On October 6, 2008, the Ministry of Home Affairs granted approval for the creation of three Special Director General (Spl DsG) posts, designated for Jammu & Kashmir, North East & Central Zones. Additionally, approval was given for one Additional Director General (ADG) post for the South Zone. Mr. J C Dabas, IPS, assumed the responsibilities of the first ADG on November 29, 2010. The operational commencement of the Southern Zone office at the GC CRPF Hyderabad campus took place on April 19, 2011
